Sometimes I just want to kick myself in butt!
I’m taking part in a Ravelry Scarf Exchange and about a week ago I finally decided on the yarn I would use and ordered it. Finally It arrived and when I was going to start knitting the pattern I’ve chosen, I discovered that I haven’t the right size needles!
Argh!
Why didn’t I check this when I ordered the yarn? Why didn’t I check the pattern? I could have ordered the needles at the same time and now I’ll have to wait even more to start knitting!!!
Stupidity is what will get you every time!

No, I’m not calling myself an artist! It’s what I’ve named my necklace.
It’s a “heavy” name for such a simple and playful summer necklace but the brass pallete that dangles from it made me think first in painters and then in artists as a whole.
It’s Summer and I feel like playing.
So I guess I’m slowly getting back to making jewelry even if, for now, it’s just for myself.

I’ve always loved all things crafty and specially all fiber crafts.
I first learned how to crochet when I was about 8 or 9 years old and was taught by my father’s boss. I used to be arround in her shop, when on holidays, seating in a bench with a crochet hook and some cotton thread trying to mimic her movements. And this was not a yarn shop but an appliances repair shop so you get the picture!
The knitting part came much later. My aunt, who is also my godmother, was always making me these “complicated” pullovers with many colors and doing it so fast that I thought it was a fascinating thing and that I would never be capable of doing it!
As the years passed by I kind of forgot about it, as knitting became an out fashion thing to do and was frown upon!
When I was fairly young I became more and more obsessed about learning how to knit. I asked, and asked, and asked my aunt to teach me and one day she came by my house and taught me the basics. How to cast on, how to knit and purl. But I was a teenager and I quickly became bored and put the needles away after my first scarf. And forgot everything I was taught.
And then there came the internet and the blogs. I became interested again but almost all I knew had been lost. But the internet is a wonderful thing and although, at the time, there were no videos teaching how to knit the way I do, I forgot to tell that I knit the Portuguese style, I learned again and have been knitting ever since.
Well, not always, has I said in the previous post I have cycles where I knit like crazy and then simply leave it and then start again.
What’s your story? How did you start?

Yes. It has bit me again.
I’m knitting.
For me it seems to come in cycles. I start knitting and can’t seem to stop for months in a row and then I get interested in making something else and stop knitting for a wile. Then it gets to me again and the cycle continues!
It wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t become so obsessed. I start too many projects at one time and I’m lucky when I finish one before starting another.
Do you want to know how many projects I have on hands now?
Never mind, I don’t even know!
I’m making two Clapotis, one in this yarn in Frank Ochre and the other in this yarn, two Swallowtail Shawls in this yarn (ravelry link to my stash) and in a black cotton that I have stashed for ages and don’t even know what’s the name of.

And this another of my works in progress. Can you guess what it is?

I’ll let you know in a future post if you can’t guess it.
And I’ve so many more projects at hands that I don’t don’t even know where to start!
Let me take a deep breath!
Why do I start so many projects in the summer? I must be out of my mind!! It must be the Sun. Don’t you agree?

Last May 20th was my birthday and it was the best in a long time. I was relaxed all day long and did not have to worry with anything.
Thank you mom!
She organized everything, from the lunch with my family at a great restaurant to birthday cake. She is the best.
And I had my hair cut!

Believe me when I say that this is an event. I had my last cut about a year and half ago and it wasn’t even a real hair cut! I just hate to go to the hairdresser. It’s not the hair cutting that gets to me, it’s the way that that environment gets people to poke at you, they always want to now everything about your life and comment on everyone else life also!

But I think It was worth it. I look much better!!

This blog has been on an hiatus.
I haven’t been making jewelry and so I thought that I had nothing else to post. Sorry if you’re a follower because you’ve had nothing to follow lately.
I don’t know when or if I’ll start making jewelry again but I’ll let you know.
Meanwhile I’ve rediscovered other crafts that I’ve been neglecting and that make me relax, I have to keep making something creative because it helps me stay sane.
I started knitting again. Ravelry has helped me in that way. Seeing so many wonderful patterns and other knitters works has been an inspiration.
Let’s see how this works.

I should have known this would happen.
I’m a terrible blogger!
I always start these projects with the best intentions and promise myself to regularly post. And then life intervenes and I find myself looking at a blog that as a dozen posts in 6 months!
It seems that I’m always too tiered after work to blog. On weekends I have other things to work on and the blog is left behind.
As I’m writing these lines I think that these are excuses and I was not really committed to blog when I started it. It’s hard work to keep blogging every day and as I found out I was not prepared to give it all I’ve got.
When I started this blog my thought was that I was going to share my work with a larger audience than that of my friends and family but without hard work on my part I can’t blame anyone else for the lack of traffic.
It’s all about commitment and hard work. Willingness to share more and not being disappointed that no one read it or made a comment.
I can’t make any promises but I’m going to try to, at least, blog once every week. I know myself and I know that I can not promise more.
Let’s see if this time I keep my promises!

This is the “winning” bracelet. It was a very special order, for a very special day! A marriage, with a Fall theme. No, it isn’t now in the Summer! I present to you the “Autumn Bracelet”.
It will be worn with these earrings although with some changes.
